"Life imitates Art far more than Art

The power of imagination is much like a
storm which destroys and re-create the world in our
brain. The result might be called
"subcreation", or a construction of an
imaginary world.
We show a series of recent works on paper
by Steven Tabbutt inspired by the oracles of upcoming
breakdown and its aftermath.
Combining classical painting, drawing and
sometimes digital retouching, Steven's work of rare
dramatic intensity finds its roots in the aesthetic and
narrative of fairy tales, legends and mythology.
Reflecting a strange and transient reality in which
opposed the fantasy of protected childhood to that of
lost illusions and corrupted adulthood.

Le pouvoir de l’imagination ressemble
à une tempête qui détruit et recrée le monde dans
notre cerveau. On désignera le résultat par
"subcreation" ou la construction d’un
monde imaginaire.
Nous montrons une série d’œuvres
récentes sur papier de Steven Tabbutt inspirées par une
vision prémonitoire du cataclysme à venir et de ses
conséquences.
Combinant peinture classique, dessin et
parfois retouche digitale, l’œuvre de Steven d’une
rare intensité est enracinée dans l’esthétique et
les histoires des contes de fées, des légendes et de la
mythologie. Elle est le reflet d’une étrange
réalité intemporelle dans laquelle s’opposent l’imagination
d’une enfance protégée et les illusions perdues d’une
vie d’adulte.
